Theory Experts Curriculum Information
Our Theory Experts products align to 3 different levels for different age ranges. We recommend:
Level 1 for early elementary – Level 2 for upper elementary & early middle school – Level 3 for upper middle school & high school
General Differences Among Levels (specifics for each lesson are viewable in the Curriculum Guide below)
For rhythm lessons: Level 1 note & rest durations used are whole, half, quarter, and 8th – fraction understanding is not stressed. Level 2 adds dotted half, dotted quarter, and 16th notes – fractions are used. Level 3 adds dotted 8ths and dotted 16th notes – fractions are used frequently.
For pitch lessons, Level 1 ONLY contains treble clef, while Level 2 & 3 work in bass clef and treble clef throughout. Level 3 includes section 2 which gets into much more complicated concepts than section 1 alone
